Machining Services
Cutting, Drilling, Milling, Tapping, Nibbling
A wide range of machining services are available in the market, including cutting, drilling, milling, tapping, nibbling and various others. Standard steel types are generally kept in stock to ensure that a fast lead time is always possible. Most common in the laser cutting industry is mild steel, stainless steel and high strength steels.
Holes in Sheet Metal
Different processes for producing holes in sheet metal are available, the process used will depend on the size of the hole required and the thickness of the plate. Holes with diameters of up to 50mm are normally drilled, while larger holes can be CNC-milled or cut. Other techniques include that of boring and reaming. The first process is that of cutting with plasma cutting, flame cutting and/or laser cutting techniques. These cutting techniques can only be applied if the diameter of the hole is larger than the sheet thickness. For specific roughness and tolerances the holes should be cut instead of drilled.
Cutting
Plasma, flame and/or laser cutting can be used to cut holes into sheet metal components.
Drilling
Metal drilling is commonly used for producing holes in sheet metal.
Tapping
Tapping is a machining operation which cuts a screw, cross-shaped, thread into a hole.
Nibbling
Nibbling is a mechanical process that utilizes a delay where a vast power is transferred to the sheet metal which can easily nibble welding edges of products.
Milling
Milling machines can be fitted with drilling tools to quickly drill large holes or series of holes in sheet metal.
